Save the date for the 14th Annual Interlude Music and Art Workshop. Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County | | kathleen.blackwellplank@atriumhealth.org | 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081Middle Eastern Music and Art: Culturally Sensitive Care at the End of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7,  2020 from 8:30am-3pm.  Under the direction of Verlene Schermer, Certified Clinical Musician (CCM) participants will develop improvisation skills and build a repertoire of Middle Eastern therapeutic music for use in hospice/healthcare settings. Participants will learn about Arabic rhythms and modes, develop improvisation skills using voice and instruments and will explore traditional music from cultures such as Lebanese, Turkish, Greek Armenian, Arabic, Flamenco, Ladino, Bosnian and Basque. Verlene will also guide us in the effective use of the voice at the bedside through the session Singing & Voice Mechanics- A Look Under the Hood. Participants will experience self-care through Qigong guided by Joe Higgins which is like meditation in motion. Kathleen Blackwell-Plank, ACCM, will share arrangements of lullabies and love songs from Middle Eastern cultures.
